The Khoisan, or Khoe-Sān, are indigenous peoples of Southern Africa, comprising the Khoekhoen (formerly "Hottentots") and the San (also known as Bushmen). The term encompasses those outside the Bantu group. 'Hottentots' originated from Dutch, referring to the click consonants in Khoekhoe languages. Dutch settlers would offer liquor to Khoekhoen, hearing their dance as 'hot-en-tot'. (Wikipidia)
