Behind her stands Shaka Zulu and his warriors, fierce and unmistakable, yet it is she who holds the room. The spear rests easy in her hand. Above, the moon falls into eclipse, because she is the moon, and her light is so vast it covers even her son. Long before the legends rose, she was already standing, the root from which a nation grew. To remember her is to remember that Africa's strength has always begun with her women.
