Around her stand the weapons of her ancient past, planted upright in the light, honored rather than wielded. Above her fingertip a small sun turns slowly, held the way one holds something precious and entirely understood. More suns drift around her, a quiet constellation answering to her presence. She is the maiden of the stars, proof that Africa has always raised daughters who do not borrow their light. They carry it, and the heavens gather close to be near it.
